Folk arts carnival to be celebrated in Fuzhou

According to a press conference held on 12nd January, a Cross-Strait folk arts carnival, titled "Love of China - Cross-Strait Folk Arts Carnival", and jointly hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Arts, China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, and Fujian Federation of Literature and Art Communities is going to be held in Fuzhou 31st January to 6th February 2010.
 
The main venues for the carnival will be at the Three Lanes Seven Alleys and Yadao Alley. The activities at the carnival will include a folk arts performance, folk cultural forum, folk cultural proseminar, folk tea ceremony performance, street carnival, and stamp stone competition.
 
Indigenous cultural art troupe, folk dance theatre and artists from Taiwan, as well as other folk performing groups from Fujian, Henan, Guizhou and Jiangxi will participate in the carnival, and give performance.
 
Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, located at the centre of Fuzhou City, is the well preserved architectural complex of the Ming and Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 40 hectares with 268 ancient houses. As a famous ancient block, Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is an important symbol to show the long history of Fuzhou city. It enjoys a reputation of "the Museum of the buildings of the Ming and Qing Dynasty". Some of the local people are still living there.
