By admin on 2014-12-26

As 2010 Chinese New Year falls on Valentine's Day, young people are going to have a two themed festival on 14th February. This year, the tiger-themed Valentine's may be a popular trend in Xiamen.

Instead of a bunch of roses on Valentine's Day, various tiger themed gifts could be a good choice for sweethearts. Numerous e-shops and local stores have put various kinds of tiger themed gifts on their shelves.

In Xiamen, Shanguo Yanyi, a fashion store selling couple T-shirts, have their tiger-themed couple T-shirts on sales. The red-coloured T-shirts are printed with tiger patterns. "Red is the auspicious colour in Chinese New Year while a tiger pattern is a fashion element in 2010," said the salesperson in the store.

At the beginning of the New Year, Nike has launched its series of 2010 year of the tiger edition including shoes, coats, and couple coats.

Moreover, it will be more convenient and more choices if you go shopping online for Valentine's gifts. There are lots of tiger themed ornaments, jewelries and special gift packages.

Some tiger themed gifts are also combined with other traditional Chinese elements.

In Changsha, the capital city of central China's Hunan Province, Zhu Jiannan and his wife don tiger-themed opera masks at their home. Zhu, 65, an affiliate with Hunan provincial association of Painting and Calligraphy, spent two months painting 22 tiger-themed opera masks based on different characters in Chinese ancient classics. The painting buff had produced similar works for the Beijing Olympics and the 60th National Day holiday.
