2010 China New Year Concert to open in Guangzhou

Tickets for Guangzhou's most awaited musical event of the year, the famous Guangzhou New Year concert are finally on sale. This year it is the "World Orchestra" under the direction of Josep Vicent which shall enchant local audiences.

Founded in 1949 by Igor Markevitch, the "Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra" has toured the world playing for the Olympic Games and other important international events. The World Orchestra was named the "UNESCO Artists for Peace" in 1996.

To celebrate the arrival of the year 2010, the orchestra will collaborate with Spanish pianist, Ivan Martin, and New Zealand soprano Ana James. They shall perform in Guangzhou for two nights – the 31st of December 2009 and the 1st of January 2010.
