International Animation Festival to open in Xiamen

2009 Xiamen International Animation Festival, sponsored by Xiamen Municipal Government and co-organized by China’s Representative Office of ASIFA, will be held from 30 October to 3 November in Xiamen Software Park. The festival activities include Golden Dolphin Animation Contest, Xiamen Animation Forum, Animation Program Week, exhibition of animation products and technology, cosplay performance and other supporting activities such as electronic skills contest.

At present, all the preparatory work of the animation festival has been finished, and all the animation works in the Golden Dolphin Contest have been examined and will be re-examined on 29 October by six famous international judges. The contest sticks to the principle of professional examining standard, promotion of original works, and cultivation of new generation of animation talents.

The Animation Program Week has started its preliminary display. As one of the supporting publicity activities, the Display Month of Xiamen local animation works has started on 15 October and programs are broadcasted from 17:50 to 18:15 on Xiamen TV Channel 1 and from 18:30 to 19:00 on Xiamen TV Guide Channel. The broadcasting will last for a whole month.
