March Street Culture Festival of Bai Ethnic Minority Group

     On March 29th, March 3 th in traditional Chinese lunar calendar, the Bai Village of Furong Bridge Township in Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie City celebrated the first "March Street" Culture Festival of Bai ethnic minority group in Hunan Province. On that day, over a thousand local Bai people dressed in festive costumes were immersed in singing and dancing, playing the dragon lantern (a traditional Chinese activity at which a group of people participating in playing a man-made "dragon", typically on the Lantern Festival of the 15th day of the 1st lunar month), lion lantern (similar to the dragon lantern, people playing "lion" instead of "dragon"), dancing with drum, joining in the temple fair, jumping over fire and other traditional folk culture performances. Tens of thousands of local people and tourists from afar took part in this festival in high spirits.

  This old ethnic carnival first appeared in Tang Dynasty has a history of more than one thousand years. The activities during the festival mainly include the trading of big cattle, herbs, special local products and daily necessities. During the festival, performers from different counties give wonderful performances in the street, staging Bai operas and playing music in the open. Riders of different nationalities will enter the horse race. This film shows the ethnic carnival full of enthusiasm.
