Take a Medical Bath
By admin on 2015-02-03

Medicinal bath therapy involves the soaking of one's body in hot water, which is mixed with medicinal liquid, or fumigating oneself with the heat of decocted medicine. Assisted by the heat and medicine, the therapy can help dispel cold, improve blood circulation and relieve aches. The therapy, with the unique characteristics of traditional Chinese medical science, can involve either the whole body or parts of the body, it can help cure some diseases specific to women, and it can help women feel more beautiful.

Development

Medicinal bath has a long history. More than 3,000 years ago, during the Yin Dynasty, the later period of the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-1100 BC), it was common for members of the imperial family to take a bath in hot water mixed with some medicine. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), many methods of medicinal bath had been developed to improve the people's health, and help the people, especially women, become and feel beautiful. During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the therapy, which was highly developed, was used by practitioners in various disciplines—including internal medicine, surgical departments, gynecology and pediatrics—to cure illnesses. The therapy was also used to treat various skin diseases and illnesses associated with the "sense organs"—the ears, eyes, mouth and the nose. Nowadays, medicinal bath therapy is popular throughout the world.
