On May 28th 2011 Confucius Class Munich and the Munich Association for International Education and Inter-Cultural Meetings (InitiativGruppe-Interkulturelle Begegnung und Bildung e.V.) co-organized the ''Munich Music Night – Chinese Folk Song and Dance Music Show''. With nearly 100 spectators present, the festival lasted about 3 hours.
Organized by a cultural organization at place, ''Munich Music Night (Die Lange Nacht der Musik)'' is Munich's biggest annual music festival and has already been held twelve times. Every year in May, numerous spectators from Munich and its surroundings can enjoy an abundance of musical performances at multitudinous venues in the course of one night. This year for the first time Confucius Class Munich contributed to the program of the festival with a mixture of Chinese and German folk songs and Chinese folk dances.
The local music ensemble Jiyuetian (伎乐天) used traditional Chinese instruments for their performances of ancient Chinese compositions such as ''Clouds Chasing the Moon'', ''Yao Dance'' and the famous ''Horse Race''.
Afterwards Lusi Yang (vocals) and Chenna Lu (piano) presented a medley of German classical opera arias by Mozart, Puccini, Schumann and Strauss and finally closed their performance with two Chinese pieces of music (''I love you China'' and ''Jasmine'').
Another especially well-enjoyed part of program were the traditional Dai, Tibetan, Mongolian, Han and other Chinese dance features presented by Miss Zhou Min.
As a special feature of the program, guzheng solist Guo Jiaying teamed up with 9-year-old violin-artist Zhu Di to present the well-known Chinese love story ''Butterfly Lovers''.
The audience visibly enjoyed all the performances and even applauded for encores. As a result, Confucius Class Munich and the Munich Association for International Education and Inter-Cultural Meetings can be happy about the great resonance.
Since its establishment in the year 2009, Confucius Class Munich has successfully hosted a variety of cultural activites and actively cooperated with local government departments, educational institutions and cultural groups.
The main motivation for Confucius Munich to push forward these cooperations is to promote mutual cultural unterstanding between China and the world.
Confucius Class Munich is now looking forward to finding further possibilities to communicate with cultural groups and exchange ideas with local governments and institutions.
