North Pole Village

Located in the northern foot of Daxing'an Mountain and the southern bank of the upper stream of Heilongjiang River in Heilongjiang Province, Mohe county is the northernmost point in China, which has long been known as "the North Pole of China". Visitors going there are mainly interested in the icy and snowy field.

The highlight in the North Pole Village is the Christmas Village. Covering an area of 100.06 hectares, the Christmas Village is the first village in China that has the style of Northern Europe. In the place, there are "Home of Santa Claus", "World of Children's Stories", "World Above Snow", western restaurants and holiday villas.

Tips:

1. Wear warm clothes to help deal with the cold.
2. Bring some frostbite salve for pharmaceutical purposes.
3. Don't touch cold metals with bare hands outdoor, or your skin will stick to it.
4. Be sure to keep the camera warm.

Transportation: take the train No. K7041, 2667 or 6245 from Qiqihaer to Mohe county, and take a taxi or hire a mini-bus from Mohe county to the North Pole Village.

Jilin Wusong (Rime) Ice and Snow Festival

Also called hoary willow, Jilin Rime is one of the four natural wonders in China, together with the beautiful landscape of Guilin, stone forest of Yunnan and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. In the bitter winter, when the rime appears, the weeping willows along the long bund are colored crystal-clear and transparent, pure as jade. Standing in it, people will feel staying in an enchanting picture of the world of immortals.

Every January, the Wusong (Rime) Ice and Snow Festival is held in the city of Jilin, Jilin Province. During the festival, a series of activities such as rime appreciation, skiing performance, winter swimming performance and skiing competition are held. Visitors will also enjoy the colorful ice lanterns, ice sculptures and fireworks.

Shenyang International Ice and Snow Festival

The grand opening ceremony of Shenyang International Ice and Snow Festival will be held on Jan.7, 2011. During the festival, visitors can participate in the Guandong (northeast China) Temple Fair, which displays the traditional Manqing (Qing Dynasty) Culture and Guandong folk culture. A selection of traditional Guandong snacks is offered in the temple. Besides, many never-fading games such as ice skate blades, tug-of-war on the snowfield and ice tops can be also seen in this grand festival.

Main venue: Shenyang Qipanshan Ice and Snow World

Located in Qipan Mountain in the northeastern Shenyang, Liaoning Province, Shenyang Qipanshan Ice and Snow World is a hot tourist resort in winter. Covering an area of 500,000 square meters, it is a typical North Country scene with rolling hills, large ice surface and thick wood.
