By admin on 2015-01-15

In western Guizhou Province, Huangguoshu is a national scenic spot wellknown for its waterfalls.

The waterfalls are scattered along the Dabang, Baishui, Kanling and Wanger River. The uneven rise of the earth's karst crust makes these tributaries roar down along numerous gradients. The nine biggest ones result in unique water scenery characterized by falls, currents and underground rivers.

Huangguoshu scenic spot is centered on the Grand Huangguoshu Falls (77.8m high, 101.0m wide) and provided with other 18 falls of various sizes. Featuring grandness, oddness, steepness and elegance, they jointly form an enormous “Waterfall Family”.

The Grand Huangguoshu Falls is the most imposing one among the waterfall cluster and is one of the most extensive and spectacular falls in the world. It is the only one on the earth available for viewing from upper, lower, front, rear, left and right positions. In addition, it is the only one provided with naturally perforated waterfall caves, from the inside or outside of which you can hear, view and touch the falls.

The upstream Baishui River is flowing towards the bluff and falling into the Rhinoceros Pool at the foot. It presents a spectacular scene and gives off thunder-like sound which can be heard several kilometers away. Collision of the water and rocks creates dense smog, which turns into colorful and marvelous rainbows under the effect of sunshine. There is a couplet at the Fall Viewing Pavilion on the cliff at the other side of the falls. It reads “Cotton-like white water splashes without being fluffed; brocade-like rosy clouds gather without being weaved”, which is a vivid reflection of the scene of Huangguoshu Falls.

Huangguoshu Falls has been described as the magnificent scenery of China. It is a great scenery worth your travelling.
