Qingshan Valley

Located in the northern mountains of Kuandian Manchu Autonomous County in Dandong City, Qingshan Gou is composed of eight major scenic areas. The scenic area is 149.8 square kilometers with 126 spots and 36 waterfalls. The beautiful forests, clear water, calm and serene valleys make it a fairyland.

Qingshan means green mountains, it deserves the name for its 80% forest coverage. The average temperature of whole year is 8.6°C, the climate is suited to the growth of plants. You can enjoy the non-polluted water here which can be drunk directly.
Qingshan Gou is composed of eight areas, including Qingshan Lake, Feipu Jian, Hutang Gou, Yahekou, Wai Hu, Shumu Yuan, Lingxiao Feng, and Dabing Gou. Now only 4 areas are open to the public: Qingshan Lake, Feipu Jian, Hutang Gou and Manchu Folk-Custom Garden.

Long long ago, there was a young man lived on hunting. One day, he met an injured tiger and brought it home with sympathy. The tiger got well soon, so the kind-hearted guy let it back. Several days later, something strange happened, he always found his dinner ready when he got home. Who would do it in such a deserted place? To figure it out, one day, the man got home earlier than usual. He saw a belle cooking for him with tiger leather on the porch! It turned out that the tiger did it as a pay back. Then they lived together happily ever after. Hu means tiger, so Hutang has become the name of this area.

Jiuqutianshui (Nine curves river)
Jiuqutianshui is the soul of this area. The river is a “love potion”, it says that if couples make wishes here and then drink the water, they will live happily ever after, and if lovers drink the water, they will get married and have a happy life.
 
Huwang Ding
Huwang Ding is 800 meters above the sea level which means it is the highest peak in the area. Cliffs and strange-looking stones are everywhere. The sounds of blowing wind and the views of clouds make you feel that you are so closed to the sky.

Qingshan Lake Area
Qingshan Lake is about 50 miles long and 30 to 120 meters deep. Yachts, dragon boats and other kinds of boats are all available here. 300 visitors can travel along the lake at the same time. You can enjoy the beautiful scene on all sides. Mountains, trees, valleys, and the blue sky give you a good chance to feel the nature. In winter, the snow-covered lake has special scene. When the lake is frozen, you can take a sleigh and enjoy the traditional dance of China on the ice.

Pine King
The Pine King is more than ten meters high and 260 years old. Legend says the old tree died in 1911, a villager wanted to cut it down. However, as soon as he waved the ax he fell down because of a sudden pain. People took it as a warning, so nobody dared to cut it then. Three years later, it relived miraculously, and was more flourishing than before. From then on, it was called Pine King. Local people will pray and ask for bless here when big events happens.

FeiPu Jian Area
The biggest and the most magnificent waterfall of Liaoning Province Qingshan FeiPu is here. The water falls from a 32-meter high cliff and looks like a silver belt. There is a huge stone located on the south of the waterfall which is higher than two meters and looks like a funny monkey. He is facing the waterfall so people call it Shihou Guan Pu which means a stone monkey is watching the waterfall. Besides, other attractions as Xiannu Pool, Zhenshui Stone are fabulous as well.
