Description
Spend a full day trip to the Resonant Sand Bay, a grand sand desert whose sands can make music when you walk on it. It is also called "yinken resonant sand gorge" by local people, which means bowstring in mongolian.

Location
The Bay is situated in the territory of Dalad Banner, Ordos. It is three kilometers from the 210 state highway and 44 kilometers from Baotou in the north and 55 kilometers from Dongsheng District of Ordos in the south. Backed by the Kubuqi Desert, the dunes assume a crescent shape with a height of 90 meters and gradient of 45 degree.

The Sound
In the conditions of the dry climate, people will hear sounds like a bugle and drumbeat in the sand if they surf along the slopes of the dunes. If several people are surfing together, the sound will be as loud as a large bell and you will feel the whole dune is trembling. Recently scholars proposed scientific principles to explore its cause of formation. However, no substantial progress was achieved.

Landscape
It is featured by its amazing desert landscape and the whispering sand dunes. Besides, there are also the sand lake and the oasis, etc. The sand dunes stretch as far as the eye can see and form a magnificent landscape.

Sand Exploration
Strolling on the sea of sand, admiring the beautiful scenery and listening to the camel-bells is only part of your unique experience. Here, you can experience sand exploration, horse and camel riding, glider flying, motor racing, target practice, arrow shooting, sand baths and swimming.

Local Flavor
Living in a Mongolian tent, eating mutton by hand, tasting fresh milk and Ordos wine, you can also appreciate Ordos songs and dances and a unique Ordos wedding performance performed by the Xiangshawan Artistic Troupe.

Getting There
There's a stop for the Hohhot-Dongsheng inter-zone route; tourists along the northern route can take the regular bus from Hohhot and Baotou East Station; tourists along the southern route can take regular bus at Dongsheng.

Travel Tips
The dune will emit sound in a dry climate. It is better not to go there on rainy days or after the rain. Take a parasol if going there in summer.
