What is beauty, how has it evolved and how long is its history? The new book set 100,000 Years of Beauty reveals that wherever humanity exists, beauty follows.

The series, recently published in both English and French, has brought together 300 leading international anthropologists, philosophers, historians, sociologists and artists from over 35 countries to explore what the quest for beauty has meant for humanity, across history and across civilizations.

In the book series, every facet of the human experience of beauty has been explored by the contributors, from the origins of beauty during prehistoric times and from ancient civilizations up until the present day as well as what may happen in the future. The work demonstrates that the pursuit of beauty has been a constant obsession of humanity since time immemorial.

The series marks L'Oreal's 100th anniversary. The French multinational commissioned a worldwide research project to see how beauty has influenced people throughout the course of history.
