By admin on 2014-12-29

Lan Ting Restaurant (岚庭) is named after Wang Xizhi's famous piece of prose written in the Eastern Jin Dynasty ( AD 317-420). The restaurant's decor looks decidedly "ancient", with Chinese prose written in classical style adorning the walls alongside other old paintings.

The eatery is located on the ground floor of the Beijing Broadcasting Tower Hotel and also uses a collection of antiques, including furniture and rare rosewood, in the public dining area.

The restaurant's recently updated menu has a mixture of popular Chinese cuisines.

Marinated duck tongue with red rice wine (红米酒糟鸡) is full of the flavor and fragrance of rice wine.

Another good cold appetizer is steamed chicken with chili Sichuan style (川味口水鸡), served in two small bowls with chopped spring onion and shredded peanut.

For the main, try fried shredded diced chicken in soybean paste with walnut (酱爆桃仁鸡丁), and braised shredded chicken with ham and dried bean curd slices (什锦煮干丝). Double boiled Khan beef ribs (可汗牛肋), served with sauce and spring onion offer another tasty main meal option.

The restaurant also has a range of seafood, and other innovative dishes. Menu is in Chinese and English, with color illustration.

The average bill is 80 yuan per person, which is good value considering the food and ambience.
