Post-holiday tour prices dropped quickly

As the Spring Festival draws to its end, several key travel agencies in Xiamen have changed their price list. Prices for domestic and international travel have dropped to their pre-holiday levels.
 
Those hot tourist routes during the Spring Festival have seen the biggest drop, with an average decline of about 20%. Among international travel, prices for the routes to Southeast Asia and Japan have fallen the fastest, with some tour prices dropping by 60%.

The price of the Hainan travel route, which rose surprisingly to 7,000-8,000 yuan during Spring Festival, has plunged fastest to about 4,000 yuan, according to a travel agency.

Besides, as shown in the Xiamen Tourism Group’s quotation, the price for a 6-day trip to Kunming, Dali and Lijiang fell from 3,180 yuan in Spring Festival to 2,550 yuan on 20 Feb 2010. The price for Mount Putuo also declined from 2,480 yuan in Spring Festival to 1,650 yuan in the past few days, dropping over 30%.

Compared with domestic travel, international travel has returned to its normal prices faster. Prices for travel routes to Southeast Asian islands and Hong Kong – Macao dropped the most, with the highest cut reaching 60%, according to Zheng Guoning, General Manager of Ctrp’s Xiamen Travel Business. For instance, after the holidays, it only costs 4,800 yuan for the Xiamen – Bali travel route, 60% of that in Spring Festival. Additionally, 4-day-tours from Xiamen to HK costs 1,500 yuan, while the 4-day-tour from Xiamen to HK Disneyland only costs 1,895 yuan, less than a half of the pre-holiday prices.

With prices returning to normal level, flower admiring of the next month has already been put on the agenda.

Many tourists have planned to enjoy flowers in March. Enjoying Japan’s cherry blossoms costs less than 4,000 yuan for this year, and most tourists heading for Japan choose to enjoy cherry blossoms, according to Ctrip. Apart from Osaka, Tokyo and Kyoto, hot resorts for admiring cherry blossoms are Tottoriken, Himeji-jo and Tokushima.

Besides, the hot spring tours also include admiring flowers and cherry blossoms in S Korea and enjoying tulips in the Netherlands and Belgium.
