By admin on 2014-12-29

Spring Festival has always provided an important boost to China's tourism market. Many people take full advantage of the 7-day break to travel. This year, China's tourism hot spots are expected to see more than 127 million visitors.

The National Tourism Administration forecasts that China's tourism market will see a surge in travelling during the Spring Festival. Many travellers are taking medium and short tour packages. Deals featuring tradition and the countryside are proving popular, while Making one's own itinerary is also seeing increases.

Dai Bin, Deputy Director, China Tourism Academy, said, "We predict there will be 127 million travellers during the 7-day break, generating 60 billion yuan in revenue. Shorter journeys are favored by nearly half of the travellers."

Those looking to get away from the cold, or to experience it, have made tours to southern, and northern China, highlights of holiday travel. South China's Sanya, east China's Xiamen, and Harbin in the northeast, are the most popular tourism destinations. 90 percent of Sanya's hotels have been booked, while Xiamen and Harbin saw a 70 percent occupancy rate.

Zhang Linjie, China Int's Travel Service, said, "The most popular package is to Hainan. Other popular destinations include Yunnan, Guangxi, Fujian, Heilongjiang. Hot spring and skating programs around Beijing, and Jiangxi's folk customs tour are also in high demand."

The peak tourism period is expected during the first three days of the traditional Chinese New Year.
