Spend Valentine's Day in Xiamen

Xiamen is expected to be the second most popular travel destination in China for lovers to spend the Valentine's Day, which coincides with the Chinese New Year's Day this year, according to a survey by ctrip.com, China's leading online travel service.

The survey says that compared with last year, this year's Valentine's Day will witness a significant increase in passenger numbers. Hong Kong is the most popular among the outbound tour destinations, followed by Phuket Island and Bali, while the top 3 inbound destinations are Sanya of Hainan Province, Xiamen of Fujian Province and Lijiang of Yunnan Province.

Tang Yibo, supervisor of the holiday department of ctrip.com said: "Since the Valentine's Day falls on the Chinese New Year on 14th February this year, many young couples and lovers prefer to choose traveling to spend the holidays."

"Xiamen's travel industry has been growing rapidly over the last three to four years, as Xiamen has everything - the beaches, restaurants, bars, shops and warm weather." said an insider.
