The hottest issues of 2009
By admin on 2014-12-26

A list of the hottest issues of 2009 in terms of online searches has been released by search engine www.baidu.com and Internet portal www.ifeng. com. The results, covering political, economic, cultural and social areas, were based on search frequencies and announced at a ceremony last week in Beijing.

"Hot issues" in 2009 included the cracking down on Chongqing gangsters, the launch of China's Growth Enterprise Market, new 3G technology, H1N1 and the new online spokesperson for Yunnan's provincial government.

China's 60th anniversary National Day Evening Gala was last year's No.1 cultural issue searched, with 38 million online inquiries. Chief director of the gala Jia Ding attended the announcement ceremony. He said that the high profile event was a great success but could have been broadcast more effectively. "Each rehearsal involved too many people and a massive effort. We failed to properly agree on how to broadcast the event."

He added that there were only two rehearsals before staging the evening and he had not had enough time to properly communicate with the TV stations.
