Palpung Monastery - Tibetan Buddhist Temple

The Shaolin monks of the school are currently accepting students from around the world who wish to learn Shaolin Kung Fu, Sanda (Sanshou), Tai Chi, Qigong, Bagua, Xingyi and Baji Chuan.

Set in beautiful grounds by the culturally historic UNESCO World Heritage City of Qufu, home of Confucius, the school was founded in 2008 by 34th Generation Shaolin Warrior Monk Master Shi Yan Jia under the auspices of the Shaolin Temple Head Abbot, the Venerable Shi Yong Xin, honorary Abbot to the school.

The Masters of the school are Shaolin warrior monks trained from an early age inside the original Shaolin Temple. They have rich experience teaching international students in China and abroad, won many Kung Fu competitions and given a large number of demonstrations in China and abroad, several masters as members of the Shaolin Temple overseas performance team.

The academy is a unique place to learn Kung Fu in the Shaolin tradition set in a peaceful and friendly environment for students from across the world to study in. The masters are dedicated to the teaching of their students and individually nurturing their potential. Students often wish to return again after training and long feel a deep connection to their time training and to their masters.

Students are invited to train at the school for both long and short terms of stays. Students may also combine training and optional classes in the evening with complementary lessons available to learn Chinese Mandarin, Calligraphy, Acupuncture and Massage, Martial Arts Theory and Buddhism.

The term Kung Fu or 'Gong Fu' in Chinese refers to the achievement and excellence that is obtained through the hard work and dedication of training. Within the pursuit of transcendental strength, to learn Kung Fu is at heart the expression of a deeper spiritual goal of awakening and perfection. It is this spiritual wisdom that underlies it's teaching that inspires the practice that can produce such incredible and seemingly miraculous abilities.

Through the challenging process of learning Kung Fu, students experience the physical benefits of the strengthening of their bodies and learning to defend themselves. Equally, a strengthening and training of the mind comes from learning Kung Fu and results from the cultivation of awareness in training and teaching of the masters.

The school is a place of retreat and study for those who wish to undertake the traditional training to learn Kung Fu in China. There are no special requirements to be a student; people of all ages, with or without experience are invited to the school to learn. Shaolin Kung Fu is something that can be studied by all and is reflected in how it was historically taught to many different types of people at the Shaolin Temple in China since it's founding in 495 AD. It is mental and physical preparation that will be most important for students before coming.

As an old saying teaches, Chan Buddhism is to speak it's truths from the heart, not through literature. The highest aspect of learning Kung Fu is for all action to be guided by the heart and from the formless dimension. Students coming to learn Kung Fu in China instantly recognize the long training it needs but also how much benefit they feel to have had the opportunity and begin their path in training Shaolin Kung Fu. The school warmly welcomes all to learn traditional Kung Fu here in China and become a part of it's community.
