China to be largest source of Asia Pacific tourists in 2 years
The latest survey results show that the confidence in the tourist market of the Asia-Pacific region is recovering and a decreasing number of respondents said their travel plans will be affected by economic uncertainties.
The "Asia-Pacific Travel Intentions Survey 2010" conducted by Visa and Pacific-Asia Travel Association (PATA) shows that China will become the country with the largest number of outbound travelers to the Asia-Pacific region.
The respondents from the Chinese mainland showed the strongest travel intentions for both domestic and outbound travels. Over the next two years, respondents from the Chinese mainland plan to take at least seven trips on average, followed by respondents from Singapore who plan to take at least six trips on average.
Compared with the survey in 2009, the number of respondents who said their travel plans over the next 12 months will be affected by economic uncertainties decreased by 16 percent.
Furthermore, the respondents planning the greatest frequency of domestic travel come from the Chinese mainland (almost five domestic travel trips on average over the next two years), followed by those from Malaysia, New Zealand and India (almost four travel trips on average over the next two years).
